  • The European Genome-Phenome Archive (EGA) is a data repository that promotes the distribution and sharing of personally identifiable genetic and phenotypic data resulting from biomedical research projects.

  • Scientific data production is increasing at an exponential rate, and with this has become fundamental to acquire adequate data management practices and compliance with FAIR data principles. BioData.pt, the Portuguese Infrastructure for Biological Data, and the Portuguese Node of ELIXIR identified that need and, in 2019, launched Ready for BioData Management?

  • One of the main outputs of the ELIXIR-CONVERGE project - the RDMKit - was released this year. This new tool for research data management is the result of a joint effort made by 8 ELIXIR Nodes. To find out more about this open community project read the article we just released on our website.

  • On the 7th of June, a diverse panel of speakers got together to talk about genomics and bioinformatics. Among them it is noteworthy to mention Mário Gaspar da Silva, our Vice-President and Head of Node. He talked about BioData.pt’s mission and story and how this non-for-profit private association has been providing solutions in data management and state of the art data analysis.

  • ELIXIR, the European Research Infrastructure for biological data, has been demonstrating its public value to funders and international stakeholders. However, it became imperative to collect and communicate evidence of such value in a more systematic and detailed way. This urge converged on the publication of the article “Demonstrating the public value to funders and other stakeholders- the journey of ELIXIR, a virtual and distributed research infrastructure for life science data” in the Annals of Public and Cooperative Economics Journal.

  • This week was dedicated to the agritech industry in a workshop that reunited an international and very enthusiastic panel of speakers. We want to thank all participants and the panel of speakers and chairs for these very informative days!

  • BioData.pt | ELIXIR PT would like to thank ELIXIR and ELIXIR-CZ for a great 2021 ELIXIR All Hands Meeting. It was a pleasure and an honor to be able to actively participate. Looking forward to the next ELIXIR All Hands Meeting being held in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, in 2022!

  • Last Monday, in an auditorium full of attendees (virtual and in-person) and international speakers, Mário Gaspar da Silva, our Vice-President and Head of Node, and Ana Portugal Melo, our Executive Director and Deputy Head of Node, participated in the workshop Riding the Next Wave of Research Data, where COVID-19 pandemic was held as reference.

  • On the 4th of June, took place the first General Assembly of BIP4DAB, with the presence of all 12 founder associates (CEBAL, CCMAR, CIIMAR, FCUL, iBET, INESC-ID, IGC-FCG, IST, UAveiro, UCoimbra, UMinho, and NOVA). All associates were present to elect the corporate bodies of the Association, who had an absolute victory, with 12 out of 12 votes.
